Title : Facing the COVID-19 pandemic in Brazil: A scientific opinion

Abstract:

At the end of 2019, a new disease with pandemic potential appeared in China. It was a novel coronavirus called coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19). Later, in the first quarter of 2020, the World Health Organization declared the outbreak of this disease a pandemic. Brazil is one of the countries where COVID19 has killed the most people, In March 2021, Brazil led the world in the average daily number of new infections reported, accounting for one in 7 infections reported worldwide each day and even more worryingly, it led the number of deaths from COVID-19 by inhabitant, number reached on March 5, 2021. This whole scenario of chaos caused by the pandemic in Brazil may be a reflection of wrong public policies from a scientific point of view, totally wrong in combating the government pandemic at the time of the pandemic and years before of the pandemic. Based on a literature review this study presents what are these erroneous policies that the Brazilian government used to face the COVID-19 pandemic in Brazil.
