Infectious diseases, also known as contagious diseases, communicable diseases, or transmittable diseases, are diseases caused by pathogenic microorganisms that infect a host organism and can be transmitted from one organism to another, either directly or indirectly. Infectious diseases caused by pathogenic microorganisms such as bacteria, viruses, parasites, or fungi that can be transmitted from one person to another either directly or indirectly (vector-borne). Infectious diseases are a leading cause of morbidity and mortality in almost every country on the planet. Infectious diseases are very widespread all around the world. Infectious diseases attack more frequently in some cases than in others. Many infectious diseases have side effects. These might range in severity from minor to severe.
