Virology is stated as the study of viruses and virus-like entities, covering taxonomy, disease-causing characteristics, cultivation, and genetics, among other things. Virology is frequently clubbed in with microbiology and pathology. The study of the biology of viruses and viral diseases, including their distribution, biochemistry, physiology, molecular biology, ecology, evolution, and clinical aspects, is referred to as virology. Virology's early years were reliant on breakthroughs in the chemical and physical sciences; yet, viruses quickly evolved into tools for examining basic biochemical processes in cells. Viruses have long been thought of as disease-causing entities that need to be controlled or eradicated. Viruses, on the other hand, have some favourable features that can be harnessed for beneficial purposes, as seen in gene therapy and vaccinology.
